Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre-Workout review – The Basics
In case you didn’t know, pre workout supplements are products that are designed to be taken before your workouts to help support your fitness goals.
As we have already mentioned, this supplement is the ‘signature’ pre workout product of the huge fitness website bodybuilding.com.
It’s no surprise that they have started making their own supplements to cater to their readers’ needs.
You can buy this supplement from Amazon.com or on Bodybuilding.com. It currently costs around $28 for a tub containing 30 servings.
Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout currently comes in a number of different flavors, including:
• Blue Raspberry
• Blueberry Lemonade
• Cherry Limeade
• Fruit Punch
• Tropical Pineapple
• Watermelon Lime
The marketing material on the official website says that this supplement has been formulated with ingredients in the right doses to help support your workout goals.
It claims to use a number of proven ingredients to deliver its benefits and support you as you look to hit your goals.
The marketing material goes on to say that the product has been formulated with total transparency and delivered in effective doses.
It all sounds pretty good to us so far, but we prefer not to pay too much attention to what manufacturers say about their own products.
Instead, it’s generally a better idea to focus on the ingredients formula and customer reviews, so lets’ now move on to the next section in our Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout review.
Let’s begin this important section by taking a look at the actual ingredients formula of the Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout as printed on the tub itself.
Firstly, we should praise Bodybuilding.com for not using a proprietary blend with this supplement. This means that we know the exact doses of each of the ingredients on the label – and that is the kind of transparency that we like to see with supplements like this.
It’s always a good idea to avoid supplements that use proprietary blends, as there really isn’t any excuse for manufacturers to hide the doses of ingredients from their customers.
Anyway, let’s now start taking a close look at some of the actual ingredients in the Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout formula.
• Potassium – This is an essential mineral that your body needs in trace amounts to function properly. In case you didn’t know, Potassium contributes to normal muscle function and the functioning of the nervous system.
• Magnesium – Another essential mineral and one you may not get enough of from your diet. Magnesium is an important mineral and it contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, electrolyte balance and normal energy release, amongst other things.
• L-Citrulline – This is one of our favorite pre workout ingredients. It’s an amino acid that is found in watermelons. It’s one of the most common pre workout ingredients out there, so we were pleased to find it on the label of the Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout.
• Caffeine Anhydrous – This ingredient needs no introduction. You are sure to already know the basic facts about Caffeine. It’s a popular stimulant that’s consumed by millions of people of a daily basis. You probably already know all about its benefits. There is 200mg of Caffeine in each serving of Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout. We would have preferred this to be slightly less – closer to 100mg would be better in our opinion.
• Taurine – This is another good ingredient. Taurine is a popular inclusion in many commercially-available energy drinks. It’s a decent inclusion in this pre workout, and there is 1000mg per serving in Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout.
• Beta Alanine – This is another very common pre workout ingredient that we like to see in supplements like this. Beta Alanine is a decent pre workout ingredient that is often claimed to produce the ‘tingling’ effect you may feel on your skin.
The Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout does tick a lot of boxes when it comes to the ingredients we like to see used in pre workout supplements like this.
However, there are also a few things missing from this supplement in our opinion.
For example, it was a shame not to find any B Vitamins in this pre workout. This is a shame, because Vitamins B6 and B12, in particular, contribute to normal energy release and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
It would have also been good to find a bit of Creatine in this supplement. Many of the top pre workout supplements on the market contain small doses of Creatine to give you a boost.

Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre-Workout review Reviews
We took a look on Amazon to see what real customers were saying about the Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout.
At the time of writing, it had an average rating of 4.0 out of 5 stars from 38 reviews on Amazon.
One happy customer said that this was a great pre workout for them, and that it tasted great, as they left a five-star review.
However, one negative review came from somebody who left a one-star review and said that it was “mediocre” and didn’t really do much.
What About Side Effects?
As ever, you should always carefully check the label of your pre workout supplement to make sure that you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients before trying it.
It’s also always a good idea to speak to a certified medical professional before trying any new supplement for the first time.
The main issue we see when it comes to pre workout side effects is the overuse of stimulants such as Caffeine.
In this case, the 200mg dose of Caffeine per dose is a little bit high for our liking. We would prefer to see a lower dose of Caffeine to reduce the risk of side effects.
Because of the Caffeine content, we don’t recommend taking this supplement too close to bedtime.
Is This The Best Pre Workout For Me?
We don’t currently rate Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout as one of the very best pre workout supplements on the market right now.
It does have some good ingredients and it’s great that it doesn’t use a proprietary blend to hide the doses.
However, it is a shame that it doesn’t contain a few of our other favorite ingredients such as B Vitamins and Creatine.

Anything Else To Consider?
Just remember that supplements are designed to be combined with a healthy lifestyle and they will not work miracles on their own.
A good pre workout can help to support your workout goals, but it must be combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle in order to be truly effective.
You should also speak to a certified medical professional before taking any new supplements for the first time.
Review Conclusion – Final Thoughts
That brings us to the end of our Bodybuilding.com Signature Pre Workout review.
Overall, we think this is a decent pre workout supplement that contains a host of good ingredients and doesn’t use a proprietary blend to hide the doses.
However, we don’t quite rate it as one of the very best pre workout supplements on sale right now.
