The purpose of this Loom and Leaf Mattress review is for us to take a detailed look at this product from all angles to determine if it deserves a spot in our selection of the best memory foam mattresses on the market right now.

We’re going to be paying particularly close attention to what the mattress is made of, how it feels, and what real customers who sleep on it every night are saying about it.

There are so many different memory foam mattresses on the market these days that it can be difficult to pick out the best product for your needs.

This review will hopefully help to make your life a little bit easier as you look to find out whether the Loom and Leaf Mattress is right for you or not.

So, with the introductions out of the way, let’s start taking a closer look at the Loom and Leaf Mattress to see how it fares.

Loom and Leaf Mattress – The Basics

The Loom and Leaf Mattress is a memory foam mattress made by popular online mattress company Saatva.

It’s regarded as one of the more ‘premium’ memory foam mattresses out there and currently costs $849 for a Twin size.

What sets the Loom and Leaf Mattress apart from the rest of the mattresses out there (aside from the price tag) is the fact that these mattresses are handcrafted, use four layers of foam and come in two different levels of firmness.

The Loom and Leaf Mattress is available in two different levels of firmness, ‘relaxed firm’ and ‘firm’.

This review is going to focus on the ‘relaxed firm’ model, but it is worth noting that back and stomach sleepers may prefer to go for the ‘firm’ option, as these types of sleepers usually prefer firmer mattresses.

Taking a look at the marketing material on the official Loom and Leaf website, you’ll see that this mattress is described as “handcrafted American luxury”.

The promotional material goes on to report that the Loom and Leaf is not made from ‘standard’ memory foam. Instead, it’s made from proprietary, multi-layered foams finished in our organic cotton quilt covering.

It uses high-density 5lb memory foam and cooling support layers to help support a restful night’s sleep. The mattress uses ‘Eco-Friendly’ foam sourced in the USA.

Specifically, it’s good to see that the Loom and Leaf has been designed to feature some cooling, as we all know that memory foam mattresses tend to have a bit of a reputation for getting too hot at times.

The Loom and Leaf Mattress is 12 inches thick, which is more than the industry-standard 10 inches, and suggests that this is a premium product.

Let’s now focus on the layers that this mattress is made of:

1) Gel Memory Foam – To offer support for your spine and cooling throughout the night.
2) High Density Visco Elastic Memory Foam – To contour and respond to your body shape.
3) Polyfoam – To provide support throughout the night.
4) High Density Polyfoam – 5.5 inches to offer the main support for the whole mattress.

It’s also nice to see that the Loom and Leaf Mattress uses a breathable, organic cotton cover, featuring natural thistle flame retardant keep you “comfortable, cool and safe”.

So, it all looks pretty good so far. It’s clear that the manufacturers have set out to create a premium product that delivers on its promises.

However, we prefer not to pay too much attention to what manufacturers say about their own products. Instead, it’s generally better to focus on what the mattress actually feels like and what real customers who use it every night are saying.

So, with that in mind, let’s move on to the next important part of our Loom and Leaf Mattress review.

What Does The Loom and Leaf Mattress Feel Like?

As we mentioned above, the Loom and Leaf comes in two different levels of firmness – ‘Relaxed Firm’ and ‘Firm’.

This review is focusing on the ‘Relaxed Firm’ model, but it’s certainly worth bearing in mind that they offer a firmer mattress too, especially if you’re a back of stomach sleeper.

The Loom and Leaf is one of the firmer mattresses out there, coming in at around 6.7 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.

That being said, there is certainly a fair amount of sinkage within the first two layers of memory foam, which some sleepers may not like.

Overall, the softness of the first two layers of firm probably makes this bed slightly better suited to side sleepers. That said, there was not much of a feeling of being ‘stuck in the bed’, and the mattress was quick to respond to movement.

As mentioned above, if you’re a back or stomach sleeper, you may prefer the ‘Firm’ model, as they are typically better suited for those sleeping positions.

The Positives

• High Quality, Premium Product – The Loom and Leaf is certainly one of the most premium memory foam mattresses out there. You can feel its quality and it’s clear that the manufacturers have gone to great lengths to deliver a product of the highest standing. The use of American sourced, Eco-friendly foam is an added bonus, and it’s also two inches thicker than the standard 10-inch memory foam mattress.

• Two Levels of Firmness – It’s great that Loom and Leaf offer two different levels of firmness with this mattress. This is rarely the case, as most manufacturers simply offer one option of firmness. The closest competitor is the Layla Mattress, which can be flipped to offer two different types of firmness.

• Free Mattress Disposal – One of the headaches that comes with buying a new mattress is the question of what to do with your old one. With the Loom and Leaf Mattress, you don’t need to worry, as each purchase comes with a free white glove delivery and disposal of your old mattress. This really is a quality service.

The Negatives

• High Price – Of course, with quality comes cost. The Loom and Leaf Mattress is one of the most expensive options we’ve come across. A Twin costs $849, while a King comes in at $1799. It’s worth keeping a close eye on the official website as they do offer discounts from time to time.

Loom and Leaf Mattress Reviews

At the time of writing, the Loom and Leaf Mattress is not available on Amazon.com. This makes it a little bit tricky to check out real customer reviews.

The Loom and Leaf Mattress is available at certain Macy’s stores in the USA, but generally most people will be buying it directly from the manufacturer on the official website.

It’s never the best situation to check out reviews posted on the official website, as you never know if they have been filtered or moderated.

Nevertheless, the Loom and Leaf Mattress has a 4.8 out of 5 star rating on the official website, with one happy customer saying that they have had the mattress for more than three years and it still feels ‘like new’.

There were not really any negative reviews on the official website, but this is probably to be expected.

Anything Else To Consider?

It’s worth bearing in mind that memory foam mattresses in general tend to be hotter than traditional mattresses.

That’s why we always recommend looking for a mattress that has some kind of cooling technology built in. Fortunately, the Loom and Leaf ticks this box with the layer of gel memory foam.

You should also remember that the only real way to be sure if a mattress is right for you or not is to try it out.

Loom and Leaf offer a 120-night home trial, meaning that you can return it for a refund if you’re not happy with it during that time.

Review Conclusion – Final Thoughts

That brings us to the end of our Loom and Leaf Mattress review.

Overall, we have been pretty impressed by this premium mattress that seems to live up to the billing.

It is a 12-inch thick premium memory foam mattress that’s made in the USA and comes in two different levels of firmness.

We’d suggest that the ‘relaxed firm’ model is better suited to side sleepers, and the ‘firm’ model is probably best for back and stomach sleepers.

The only slight downsides are the fact that you can only buy it on the official website or at selected Macy’s stores, and it carries a quite significant premium price tag.

However, if you’re looking for one of the highest quality memory foam mattresses out there, then you’re not going to go too far wrong by selecting the Loom and Leaf Mattress.
