Today we’re going to be reviewing the new MCT Oil supplement made by Performance Lab.

Product website:

We’ve been experimenting with a few different brands of MCT Oil in recent weeks and so were keen to give the Performance Lab version a try.

Specifically, we’ve been mixing some MCT Oil into our morning coffee to give us a little boost. Our friends at Performance Lab were kind enough to send us over a bottle to test out for ourselves.

The Performance Lab MCT is an organically-derived MCT oil designed to help support you through the day. But does it live up to the hype?

We’re going to bring you everything you need to know about this product as we look to see where it stands in the market and give it a try out ourselves.

Performance Lab MCT – The Basics

The Performance Lab range of supplements is made by a UK-based supplements company Opti-Nutra, who are the same firm behind the popular Mind Lab Pro ‘nootropic’ supplement.

The entire Performance Lab range is vegan friendly and features clean branding, with other supplements in the line including pre workouts, multivitamins and vegan protein powders.

You probably already know this, but MCT oil is a form of concentrated ‘medium chain triglyceride’ oil.

These kinds of supplements have become particularly popular amongst the keto diet community, as they can represent a convenient way of increasing dietary intake of medium chain triglyceride.

The Performance Lab MCT Oil comes in a white 473ml bottle, with the official website confirming that it includes C8 and C10 MCTs from organic coconuts.

The official Performance Lab website says that their MCT Oil supplement will help you to “upgrade your performance” with a “fast-acting” product.

The product site also explains that MCTs are fats found in coconut oil, and that the coconuts used for Performance Lab’s products are 100% organic non-GMO.

The official product website also says that this particular MCT Oil is “potent and effective” and is “flavor-neutral”.

It all sounds pretty good. But it’s generally best not to pay too much attention to what manufacturers say about their own products. Instead, we prefer to focus on the facts about supplements, namely the ingredients formula, the directions and the price.

So, with that in mind, let’s move onto the next important part of our Performance Lab MCT Oil review.

The Ingredients

Performance Lab MCT oil is quite simply a concentrated MCT Oil.

There are no additives or other ingredients in this supplement. Indeed, the only single ingredient in the formula, as shown on the bottle, is ‘Organic MCT Oil derived from non-GMO coconuts’.

The bottle also displays a supplement facts panel in which some key nutrients are revealed, as shown below. It’s good to see that Performance Lab have specifically disclosed the amounts of both C8 and C10 in this product.

The official website makes a big deal about the fact that this product uses both C8 and C10 MCTs in its formula.

MCTs contain fatty acids that have a chain length of six to 12 carbon atoms.

In case you didn’t know, C8 (eight carbon atoms in length) is also known as Caprylic Acid, while C10 (10 carbon atoms in length) is also known as Capric Acid.

The one plus-point about this (and many other) MCT Oil is the fact that it doesn’t contain any unnecessary additions to its formula. It is a single-ingredient product with a straightforward formula.

The website also says that this supplement is suitable for both vegans and vegetarians, and that it is also gluten-free, soy-free and non-GMO.

This supplement fits into the clean-label branding of the rest of the Performance Lab range of supplements, which have been formulated not to include any unnecessary additives or ‘filler’ ingredients.

How To Take It

Each bottle of Performance Lab MCT Oil is 473ml.

The directions shown on the official website at the time of writing say that you should consider taking one tablespoon daily.

The directions also say that you can take it on its own, or add it to other things such as coffee, shakes, smoothies or drinks.

It’s always important to carefully check the label of any product you purchase and that you read the warnings carefully before taking it.

Price and Where To Buy

The Performance Lab range of supplements is only currently available to buy directly from the manufacturer on the official website.

This means that you won’t find the Performance Lab MCT Oil in the shops or elsewhere at other places such as Amazon.

The price for one bottle is currently $34 / £24 from the official Performance Lab website.

You can save yourself a little bit of money on the price per bottle if you’re willing to commit to buying more than one at a time from the official site.

Performance Lab MCT Reviews

One of the main downsides about the Performance Lab range of supplements only being available on the official site is that it means we cannot check out customer reviews on third-party retailers such as Amazon.

This means that we’re forced to rely on the customer reviews posted on the official Performance Lab site.

Yes, there are plenty of positive reviews on there, but it’s generally best not to pay too much attention to the reviews that appear on the official site.

What About Side Effects?

As we mentioned above, it’s always best to speak to your doctor before taking a new supplement or making any major lifestyle changes.

It’s also really important that you carefully read the label and check the directions and warnings before taking a supplement.

The Performance Lab MCT Oil label has a few warnings, including saying that it’s not suitable if you’re under the age of 18, pregnant or breastfeeding.

You should not take this supplement before first consulting with your doctor if you have any underlying medical condition or are taking any prescription medication.

Is This The Best MCT Oil For Me?

We think that this is a great option if you’re looking for a cleanly-formulated MCT Oil.

The Performance Lab MCT Oil contains one single ingredient in what is a clean-label product which supplies both C8 and C10 MCTs.

We like the fact that this supplement keeps it simple in terms of ingredients, and does not include anything unnecessary on the label.

Pros and Cons

Let’s now weigh up some of the pros and cons when it comes to the Performance Lab MCT Oil.

• Supplies both C8 and C10 MCTs
• Clean, vegan-friendly, Non-GMO label
• No unnecessary ingredients

• A little bit on the expensive side
• Can only be bought from the official website

Anything Else To Consider?

We think that it’s always important that you do your own research into a supplement before buying it or trying it for the first time.

Remember, food supplements are not intended to replace a varied, balanced diet and healthy overall lifestyle. Rather, they can be used as a companion to an already-healthy overall diet and lifestyle.

As mentioned above, we think it’s generally always best to speak to a certified medical professional before taking any new supplement for the first time.

Review Conclusion – Final Thoughts

That brings us to the end of our Performance Lab MCT Oil review.

Overall, we were very impressed by this supplement. It uses a clean ingredients formula and doesn’t use any unnecessary additions or additives.

It’s vegan friendly, and the MCTs in the oil are derived from organic non-GMO coconuts.

The only main downsides are the fact that it’s a little bit on the pricey side, and you can only but it from the official site.
