TrueDark Twilight Classic – The Basics

As we have already mentioned above, the TrueDark Twilight Classic are blue light blocking glasses that are widely considered to be one of the ultimate sleep hacking tools around.
There are lots of different types of blue blockers out there these days as more people look to protect themselves from the effects of being exposed to too much bright blue light after dark.
The reason why blue blockers can be so effective for sleep is because human beings are not designed to see blue light after sunset. If you think about it, for most of human history, our ancestors would have only seen the light from fire and moonlight after sunset.
This all changed with the invention of the electric lightbulb. We started extending our evenings and exposing ourselves to much more artificial light after dark.
These days, it’s pretty hard to hide from blue light after dark. It comes from everywhere – street lights, car headlights, the subway, office lighting, not to mention our digital devices.
Blue light blocking glasses are a tool to ‘hack’ this issue and reduce the amount of blue light that enters our eye after dark.
Simply put, blue blockers help to let our body know that it’s dark outside and it’s time to start winding down.
The TrueDark Twilight Classic stand out as one of the top products in this category because they feature a special lens which has been designed to block out 100 per cent of blue, green and violet light.
The lenses also feature patent-pending technology, where they are made from a solid color, rather than a clear lens which is then tinted (like many other brands).
The description on the official TrueDark website says that the Twilight Classics have been designed “for maximum nighttime junk light blocking protection”.
They feature dark red lenses and a wrap-around frame, with foam at the top and bottom of the lens to prevent light from creeping in from the edges.
They are made from lightweight plastic and also come with optional polycarbonate prescription inserts (to be filled by your optician if you need prescription glasses.)
The Twilight Classics also feature UV, glare, and scratch-resistant lenses, and come with a carrying case and microfiber cleaning cloth.

The directions say that you can wear them for anything from 30 minutes to two hours before going to bed.
So, it all sounds pretty good so far, doesn’t it? Let’s now take a closer look at the Twilight Classics from different angles.
The Styles and Frames
The first thing to note about the Twilight Classics is that they do not come in multiple styles.
They only come in one style, which is the modern wraparound design pictured above.
Whilst we do like the look of them, they are perhaps not the most stylish blue blockers out there. For that reason, we didn’t feel particularly comfortable wearing them out and about.
Instead, we preferred to wear them in the comfort of our own home.
That’s our one slight gripe with the TrueDark range, is that there are not more styles on offer.

That said, the frames are made of very high quality, and they feature foam at the top and bottom of the lenses to block out light coming from above and below.
If you are looking for the ultimate sleep hacking glasses and don’t mind about the style, then the Twilight Classics are your best option.
So what is all the fuss about with the special dark red lenses? Read on to find out.
The Lenses and the Effect
As mentioned above, the Twilight Classic feature a dark red lens which blocks out all blue, green and violet light.
This sets them apart from most of the other sleep blue blockers out there, which all let in some of this light to varying degrees.

The TrueDark Twilight Classics feature dark red lenses
The first thing you’ll notice when putting them on for the first time is that they are very dark indeed. This makes them great if you watch TV or work at your computer late into the night.
However, if you’re going about your normal business in an already dark house, then you may struggle to see everything as they really do make everything pretty dark.
We put the Twilight Classics on around two hours before bed and noticed a nice relaxing feeling after about an hour of wearing them.
The feeling is difficult to put into words, but simply put, they helped us to feel ready for bed and to relax after a demanding day.
What Are Customers Saying?
We took a look online to see what real customers were saying about the TrueDark Twilight Classics.
At the time of writing, there were 51 reviews on Amazon, with an average rating of 3.6 out of 5 stars.
There were plenty of positive reviews from customers who experienced the benefits in their evenings.
The negative reviews seemed to mainly come from people who reported that the glasses broke too easily. This is not something we experienced and they seem pretty sturdy to us.
Any Negatives?
• They are a premium priced option. At $89, they are not cheap, and so they may not fit into everyone’s budget. That said, you can claim a 10% discount when you use the coupon code HUMANWINDOW at checkout on the official TrueDark website and click through this link.
• As mentioned above, it’s a little disappointing that there are not some more options when it comes to the frame styles with the Twilight Classic dark red lenses. They are good for use at home, but some people may not feel fully comfortable wearing them out and about in public!

Anything Else to Consider?
Because they block out so much light, you should never use blue light blocking glasses while driving or operating heavy machinery. There is a warning on the TrueDark website about this.
Blue light blockers can be an awesome addition to your nighttime routine and they can make a big difference in helping you to wind down before bed and prepare for sleep.

However, there are many other things you’ll need to do to stay in good health overall. Sticking to a healthy diet and exercising regularly should be the pillars of your health plan.
It’s also worth noting that because these glasses block out all blue light, it is not recommended that you wear them in the daytime when the sun is up.
TrueDark Twilight Classic Review Conclusion
So, that brings us to the conclusion of our TrueDark Twilight Classic review.
We are big fans of these sleep hacking glasses and we think that they are one of the very best options out there if you’re looking specifically for some blue light blocking glasses to be worn before bed.
They feature one of the few lenses on the market that block out 100% of blue, green and violet light, and they have been smartly designed for optimal use at home before bed.
The only slight downsides of the Twilight Classics in our opinion is the fact that there are not more frame styles on offer, and that they carry something of a premium price tag.
However, if you’re looking for the ultimate blue light blocking glasses to help with sleep and don’t mind about how they look, then look no further than the TrueDark Twilight Classic.
