It’s now widely accepted that sitting at a desk for prolonged periods is not good for you for a number of different reasons.
And that’s why more and more people are turning to standing desks as an alternative to the traditional sitting desk.
But what if you want the best of both worlds? That’s where standing desk converters come in.
These are products that sit on top of your original desk and allow you to adjust the height of your monitor and keyboard so that you can either sit or stand.
Today, we’re going to be reviewing the Varidesk Pro Plus 30 and 36 models to see where they stand.

So, as we’ve already mentioned, Varidesk Pro Plus 30 and 36 are standing desk converters that allow you to convert any normal desk into a standing one.
The 30 and 36 refer to the different widths of the base. The Varidesk Pro Plus series is currently available in three sizes:
• 30inch (76.2cm) base width
• 36inch (91.4cm) base width
• 48inch (121.9cm) base width
The 30 and 48 currently only come in a black finish, while the 36 is available in both black and white (we personally prefer white as it looks less industrial).
The marketing material on the official Varidesk website says that these products have been designed to help anyone take their workspace to the “next level”.
The simple design claims to help you move your desk from sitting to standing in just three seconds and with one simple movement.

The Pro Plus models also come fully assembled in the box, so all you need to do is slip them on top of your current desk, set up your monitor and keyboard, and you’re good to go.
Varidesk also offer a 30-day guarantee, and they offer to pick it up free of charge and give you a refund if you’re not happy with it.
The marketing material on the official website also says that the Pro Plus is “sturdy and steady” even when fully extended.
It all sounds pretty good to us so far. But how did the Pro Plus models fare when we gave them a go? Read on to find out.
The Good
The first thing we noticed when unpacking our Pro Plus models was the sturdiness of the product.
You can’t help but notice the weight of the product. It’s pretty heavy and really requires two people to move it into place. However, the weight is also an indicator of quality in our opinion.
It’s super simple to set up. Simply slide it onto your desk, set up your monitor and keyboard, and you’re good to go.
To move the desk from sitting to standing, you need to activate the built-in mechanism using the levers on each side of the desk. It can seem a bit fiddly at first, but it’s pretty easy to get used to.
The height is variable, so you can let the levers click into place as you lift and lower it to fit your needs.
We were using a 27-inch iMac and it does wobble a bit while moving from sitting to standing, but it’s nothing to worry about as long as you do it carefully.

The Bad
We mentioned the weight of the product above, and this is something to bear in mind.
When the delivery box arrived, it is incredibly heavy and it really does require two people to be able to set it up properly. The weight was a bit of a surprise to us, but as we mentioned above, it is a sign of quality.
We used the black versions of the desks, and although they are finished with a sandy texture, we found that the dust that accumulated on the surface was very visible (compared to the white desk it was sitting on).
One other slight negative in our opinion is the branded lettering showing the Varidesk.com website address on the side of the legs. We’re not really sure this is necessary and some people may not like to have the brand so clearly on display in their homes or offices.
The large footprint of the desk is also something to consider, but you should be fine if you carefully check the dimensions shown on the official website before ordering.
Varidesk Pro Plus 30 and 36 Reviews
We did some digging online to see what other customers were saying about the Varidesk Pro Plus 30 and 36.
At the time of writing, there were more than 40 reviews on Amazon, with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, which is very positive.
One happy customer left a five-star review and said that they “loved” the desk because it had help to ease their muscle problems.
The most negative review came from someone who left a two-star review and said that they were “disappointed” by the product because it felt too wobbly for them.
Overall though, the reviews are mainly positive.
Anything Else To Consider?
As we mentioned above, both of these desks have fairly large footprints, so this is definitely something to consider before buying it.
You should carefully measure your existing desk to make sure that it will have room for the item.
Review Conclusion – Final Thoughts
That brings is to the end of our Varidesk Pro Plus review.
Overall, we were very impressed with these desks. They are sturdy, well made, and the company behind is reputable and seems to deal with customers in a fair and transparent way.
The product itself is well-built and can convert any normal desk into a standing one.
The only slight downsides were the weight of it, the large footprint and the fact that it is a tiny bit wobbly when you’re typing.
All in all though, this is a great option if you’re looking for the benefits of a standing desk without wanting to shell out for a full-blown one.
